In April 2026, Mobile Modular proudly participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony at McKinley School, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing recovery efforts for schools impacted by the devastating Southern California fires. The event celebrated the completion and opening of new modular facilities supporting the Eliot Arts Magnet relocation project and highlighted the resilience of students, educators, and communities working to rebuild after unprecedented loss.
As part of the project, employees officially moved into their new administrative spaces at McKinley School, where new office furniture and workstations were installed and operational almost immediately. Mobile Modular joined district leaders, school staff, and project partners in commemorating the progress made in restoring safe, functional learning environments for displaced students and faculty.
Modular Facilities Support the McKinley Relocation Project
The McKinley School campus has undergone a remarkable transformation in a short period of time. Nine modular classrooms, three administration buildings, and a modular restroom facility were delivered, installed, and fully activated as part of the Eliot Arts Magnet and McKinley portable school project. Supporting infrastructure including ramps, underground utilities, concrete flatwork, and driveway paving was completed, along with interior finishes such as flooring, casework, electrical systems, low-voltage cabling, and fire alarm testing.
Helping Students Return to Stable Learning Environments
The rapid deployment of modular buildings has played a critical role in helping districts maintain educational continuity during recovery efforts. Following the Eaton and Palisades fires, thousands of students across Los Angeles County faced displacement as schools were damaged, destroyed, or deemed unsafe. Educators and administrators emphasized the importance of returning students to familiar classroom communities as quickly as possible, helping preserve academic progress and emotional well-being.
