Mobile Modular was Awarded a State Contract to Complete a Project in All Phases

Background

Mobile Modular was awarded a contract with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) to design, engineer, and solicit manufacturing proposals, and production and site installation of a steel-framed modular structure to be used as a mobile training center located at one of Tennessee’s State Universities.

Design Phase

In the design phase, Mobile Modular worked with TBR to move from concept design to construction documents. During this phase of work, we locked in the final floor plan layouts, required equipment specifications, materials specifications, MEP requirements, constructibility requirements, and relevant information to send to the factories for pricing out the construction phase work.

Bid Phase

Upon completion of the design and engineering documents, Mobile Modular created bid packages to send to the prequalified manufacturers for completion of the modular units in the factory, delivery to the job site, and scope of installation requirements for the completion of the project.

Construction Phase

The project included the fabrication of multiple transportable modular units which were connected on-site with minimal site adaptation work. The units are capable of supporting classroom space, welding lab space, and self-contained utilities including restroom facilities and electrical services for training equipment. The units are capable of using both on-site electrical services as well as generator-supplied services. They also feature self-contained waste and water systems. Units included entrances with canopies, ramps, and steps which were transported with the units.

The Final Product

All materials used in both the structure and finishes consisted of durable hard surface materials capable of industrial use without the need for any external structural support. Once installed, the final modular building is up to all the state of Tennessee building codes and seismic requirements.
